Routinic is a habit tracking application for Android. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Routinic collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. Routinic is designed to work primarily offline and does not require user registration or an account. However, certain technical data is automatically collected to support push notifications and app stability.

1. Information We Collect

Routinic does not require user registration and does not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number.

We collect two categories of data: data that stays entirely on your device, and limited technical data that is sent to our secure servers to support push notifications and app stability.

Data stored locally on your device only:

  • Habit data: Habits you create, schedules, completion records, streaks, and Awesome Day history — never leaves your device.
  • Timer session data: Duration and completion state of timed habits — stored locally only.
  • App preferences: Your chosen theme, reminder times, and settings — stored locally only.
  • Ad consent choice: Whether you accept or decline personalised advertising via Google's UMP at first launch — stored on your device and shared with AdMob as required by their platform.

Technical data collected automatically and stored on secure Firebase servers:

  • Installation ID: A randomly generated unique identifier created when you first install the app. This is not linked to your name, account, or any personally identifiable information.
  • Push Notification Token (FCM Token): A Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to deliver habit reminders and push notifications to your device.
  • Device Information: Your device manufacturer, model name, and Android OS version — used to maintain compatibility and diagnose issues.
  • Country: Derived from your device's region or language settings. We do not collect your precise location or GPS data.
  • App Version: The version of Routinic installed on your device and when it was first installed.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: Anonymous crash reports and app performance data collected via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics.

2. Local Data Storage

Your habit data never leaves your device. All habits, progress logs, streaks, schedules, timer sessions, and app preferences are stored locally using an offline database. We do not upload, store, or process your habit data on any external server.

Technical device data is stored on Firebase servers. When you install the app, a small set of anonymous technical information (Installation ID, FCM token, device model, Android version, country, and app version) is stored securely on Google Firebase Firestore. This data is not linked to your identity and is used solely for push notifications and app stability. See Section 5 for full details.

  • Habit data works fully without an internet connection.
  • If you uninstall Routinic or clear the app's storage, all local habit data is permanently deleted from your device.
  • To request deletion of your device installation data from our servers, see Section 10.
  • We recommend enabling Android's automatic device backup to protect your local habit data against accidental loss.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your personal habit data stays on your device and is used solely to power the app's features:

  • Displaying your habits, completion history, and streaks on screen
  • Calculating statistics, bar-chart analytics, calendar heatmap, and Awesome Days
  • Firing local reminders and alarms at the times you configure
  • Running the built-in countdown timer for timed habits
  • Applying your selected theme and display preferences

The technical device data collected and stored on Firebase is used for:

  • Delivering push notifications and habit reminders to your device via Firebase Cloud Messaging
  • Understanding which devices and Android versions our users run, so we can maintain compatibility
  • Diagnosing crashes and improving app stability via Firebase Crashlytics
  • Understanding general app usage patterns via Firebase Analytics to improve features

We do not use your data for profiling, targeted marketing, or any purpose beyond running and improving the app.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Routinic uses the following Firebase services for crash reporting and analytics:

  • Firebase Crashlytics — Collects anonymous crash reports to help us identify and fix bugs.
  • Firebase Analytics — Collects anonymous usage statistics such as session duration, screen views, and feature interaction counts.

This data does not include your habit content, your name, or any information that identifies you personally. It is used only to improve app performance and fix issues. See Firebase's Privacy Policy for details.

5. Device & Installation Data

When you install Routinic for the first time, the app automatically collects and stores the following technical information on secure Google Firebase Firestore servers. This data is tied to a randomly generated Installation ID — not to your name, email, or any account.

  • Installation ID: A randomly generated UUID created at first launch, unique to your app installation. If you reinstall the app, a new ID is generated.
  • FCM Token: Your Firebase Cloud Messaging token, used to deliver push notifications and habit reminders. This token is refreshed periodically by Firebase.
  • Device Name & Model: Your device manufacturer and model (e.g., "Samsung Galaxy S23") — used to diagnose device-specific issues.
  • Android Version: Your device's Android OS version — used to ensure compatibility across Android releases.
  • Country: Derived from your device's region or language settings (e.g., "PK", "US"). We do not collect precise geolocation or GPS data.
  • App Version & Build Number: The version of Routinic you have installed and when it was first installed.

This data is never linked to your identity. We have no way to connect your Installation ID to your name, phone number, email address, or any personal account. It is anonymous technical telemetry used purely for app reliability and notifications.

On subsequent app launches, only your FCM token and app version are updated on the server — no new data categories are collected.

Device installation data is stored using Google Firebase Firestore. By using Routinic, you acknowledge that this data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Routinic is free to download and use. To support ongoing development, the app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob.

Consent is requested at first launch. When you first open Routinic, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) will ask whether you consent to personalised advertising. You may accept or decline. To change your choice later, go to your Android Google account settings under Ads & data, or reinstall the app to see the prompt again.

  • If you accept personalised ads: Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (GAID) to show relevant ads, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • If you decline personalised ads: You will still see ads, but not targeted ones. No advertising identifier is used for targeting.
  • Routinic does not receive or store any data from the ad network.

Review Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent user data.

We share limited anonymous data only with the following third-party services, strictly for operating the app:

  • Google Firebase Firestore — Stores anonymous device installation data (see Section 5)
  • Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics — Receives anonymous crash reports and usage statistics (see Section 4)
  • Google AdMob — Serves advertisements; receives your ad consent choice and, if consented, your advertising ID (see Section 6)

Your personal habit data, timer data, and app preferences are never shared with any third party.

8. App Permissions

Routinic requests only the permissions it genuinely needs:

PermissionNameWhy it is needed
POST_NOTIFICATIONSNotificationsTo send habit reminders at your chosen times. Disable anytime in Android Settings → Apps → Routinic → Notifications.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARMExact AlarmsTo fire reminders at the precise time you set, including across DST changes. Required on Android 12+.

  • Retained according to Firebase's default retention policies (typically 2 months for Analytics, 90 days for Crashlytics).
  • As this data is fully anonymous and not linked to an Installation ID, individual deletion is not possible — but it contains no personally identifiable information.

10. Children's Privacy

Routinic is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The technical device data we collect (Installation ID, device model, etc.) is anonymous and not linked to any individual. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us at routinic.app@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
